Roco Kingdom: World is just launched on mobile phones in China, which is displayed as a pet collection MMORPG from Tencent Games’ More Fun Studios. After almost 6 years development with many delays and some problemthe game is finally available For players, try it on the Chinese server following the latest one pre-registration.

With this, the game quickly became one of the biggest mobile releases of the year, and I got the chance to try out the title for 12 to 14 hours. So here I will discuss my first impressions of Roco Kingdom Mobile, experience using it, gameplay aspects, overall quality, and potential.

Roco Kingdom is “When Genshin Impact meets Pokémon”

I played this game on the Chinese server for most of the day, and I found it did not disappoint. The hype that this game got during its first week of release is quite in its favor. The world feels alive, alive, and full of things to explore. The pet system reminds me a lot of Pokémon, and the unique way to catch them makes it even more fun.

When I first entered this game, I remembered a lot about how Genshin Impact started. The pacing and overall vibe reminded me of the first time I played this game, and I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing, but it’s definitely nostalgic. In my opinion, Roco Kingdom feels like what it would have been back then Genshin Impact meet Pokémon, combined into an open world with a collection of classic pets.

You will have the opportunity to choose a starting pet from 3 elements: fire, water and grass. Here are the following starter pets that you can choose when starting the game. The first is Rajjiwhich is a fire type pet that has a cute and unique fire aura. Next is Spring Bunnywhich is a grass type pet that is characterized by agility and speed. Next is Water Balla water-type pet that specializes in various aquatic skills.

I personally chose Rajiji because I usually like fire type users. As I progressed through the game, I also discovered different types of pets. You will usually find pets from the original 3 elements, and as time goes by, you will also find other pets from other elements. You should explore thoroughly, because it will be useful later on.

The game also features an evolution system, which is quite common in certain pet RPGs. It also features 376 pets to collect and discover, so you’re sure to be rewarded. I think certain pets are common and not much happens with them. Some pets are very useful for traveling and exploring in general. It shows the balance of how unique you can make one pet from another.

Roco Kingdom shows the potential to be a great game when released globally

With success World PalThis game does have the potential to be a great monster hunting game too. Pets react differently to the weather and time of day, and even exhibit different behavioral patterns. What makes this game a little more unique compared to other open-world games is its turn-based mechanism.

The element system and different abilities and roles of pets are also good things for players to learn and spend time with. I had a lot of fun figuring out some great team combinations as well as combos to get the most out of my pets.

These interactions are one of the things I like most about this game so far. The smallest details can make the game very serious. Interestingly, there are some animals that hide when it rains, while others are active at night.

Other people will behave differently because of different personalities. Even the driving mechanic feels like a fun idea. Large animals can be easily ridden, while smaller pets interact in unique ways.

Final Thoughts

The game’s monetization system is less aggressive than I thought. It does give you a lot for great value for money, with its bundles and tickets. However, it should also be noted that what I am talking about is the Chinese version.

Here the focus is more on game cosmetics and fashion items. This alone makes the game feel less stressful compared to many mobile RPGs today. However, it is too early to judge this as the global release will give us a clearer picture.

So far, it seems like Roco Kingdom is more than just a retro homage game, as it’s a legitimate attempt to perfect the formula that made its predecessors successful without losing what made it so good. The character designs and world design are really full of personality.

It remains to be seen whether it can dominate the genre or not, but with stiff competition in 2026, it will definitely be a challenge, but based on initial impressions alone, this is certainly one of the most promising mobile games released this year.
